Earlier than expected, Oura has announced its latest product, the Oura Ring 4 smart ring, which will have a slimmer, sleeker design, improved accuracy and will be available in even more sizes from 4 to 15. It will start at $349.
At first glance, Oura Ring 4 doesn't look too different from the previous generation. But for some, it may be important that the new ring is made entirely of titanium. Also, the 4th generation ring will have a rounded shape, just like the current Horizon models, without the flat edge. The sensors are also built in so that they are more comfortable and less protruding.
The biggest improvements are related to the software. Oura says its new algorithm helps solve a big problem with smart rings: Every user's fingers are different, and the rings can move out of place during the day, preventing accurate data collection. To solve this problem, the new algorithm increases the number of signals from 8 to 18, which improves the accuracy of the data, especially for blood oxygen and heart rate measurements. Oura claims that the new algorithm improves signal quality by 120% and increases the accuracy of blood oxygen measurements by 30%.
In addition, the Oura mobile app has received a new design, offering a more transparent layout of functions. They can now be found in three sections: "Today" - allows you to view today's measurements; "Vitals" – provides more in-depth data analysis; "My Health" - presents an overview of long-term health indicators. Oura has also added a couple of new features, such as automatic activity detection and improved stress measurement.
The new ring will be available from October 15.
