Cybercab – an autonomous driving novelty from Tesla (+ VIDEO)

US electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla has demonstrated an autonomous robot taxi in Los Angeles.

Visually, the Cybercab is something similar to the Model Y, only with even more curved hoods and a roofline that drops sharply from the front pillars of the body and transitions to a Cybertruck-like rear, hiding a voluminous luggage compartment under the hood typical of large hatchbacks.

In the two-seater cabin, it is in vain to look for a steering wheel and pedals - there are none, because the Cybercab is self-driving, therefore, instead of mirrors, there are very small video cameras on the wings, and in the center of the front panel - a single, but larger touch screen. Only two more seats and a center console with a small armrest and cup holders - that's the whole interior. It should also be noted the doors that open up and the fact that the vehicle does not have a charging port, as the batteries are charged using wireless technology. Masks does not reveal technical data about the operating range, battery size and charging speed.

According to the future vision, fleet operators would have to purchase Cybercab and use it for passenger transport, as is currently the case with platforms such as Uber or Lyft. Until then, there is still a lot to be done, because a vehicle without external mirrors or appropriate cameras, without a steering wheel and pedals is currently not allowed to be registered on public roads in the USA and Europe

At the specially organized event, the head of Tesla Motors, Elon Musk, revealed that the Cybercab should arrive on the conveyor by 2027, adding that this is an optimistic forecast. He also promised that the price of the Cybercab will be completely "raised" - less than 30,000 dollars.
